6 November, 2020

The Port of Tampico is considered one of the safest destinations, according to the results of INEGI´s National Survey on Urban Public Safety of September this year, informed Fernando Olivera Rocha, Secretary of Tourism of Tamaulipas.

In the section related to the social perception of insecurity, Tampico is ranked in the 7th place of Mexico´s safest tourism destination list.

This survey rates the perception of insecurity among the residents of the 88 most important cities of the country and municipalities of Mexico City.

Olivera Rocha highlighted the work the Governor Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca has carried out in matters of security, restoring public order and the safety of the residents. Tamaulipas has been ranked the 25th state in crime rate, according to the National Public Security System.

In addition to the wide tourism products the port has, from its history, architecture to its gastronomy, Tampico continues with its process of strengthening the tourism services, based on its strategic location and wide connectivity by land and air.

Recently, the project for the Laguna del Carpintero Park began its construction. This park will become one of the most beautiful natural spaces in the country, respecting the environment. This mega project will promote employment, investment, and tourism, in the southern area of Tamaulipas.

In this iconic space, the second larges Ferris wheel will be built, and together with other attractions, such as  the Municipal Markets, the Children´s Boat Museum and the Canal de la Cortadura, reinforces the nickname of Tampico as the “Capital city of the Huastecas”.
