The Sustainable Tourism Observatory of the State of Tamaulipas has become officially a member of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), and the newest member of the International Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories (INSTO).

This important news was announced by the State Secretary of Tourism, Fernando Olivera Rocha, who pointed out that thanks to the implementation of the policies of Governor Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca, Tamaulipas is the second Sustainable Tourism Observatory of the country and is part of this important global network, and also a member of the UNWTO.

The recognition for the Tamaulipas Observatory took place during the 112th meeting of the UNWTO Executive Council in Tbilisi, capital of Georgia and was announced by Ana Larrañaga, President of the Board of Affiliate Members through Ion Vilcu, Director of the Affiliate Members Department.

This new achievement will allow Tamaulipas to have internationally approved protocols and methodologies and the management of statistical information, research, and analysis of events in tourism, helping policy makers of this important sector of the economy.

The Committee in charge of analyzing the candidates and agreed to accept the Sustainable Tourism Observatory of the State of Tamaulipas was composed by the representatives of Azerbaijan, Ivory Coast, China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Spain.
