Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas. – Playa Miramar in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas’s top tourist destination, received the 2020-2021 Blue Flag International certification during the National Jury’s second meeting.
Specialists from the environment sector comprise the national jury which picked 91 new certified sites which will be applicable starting July. The Blue Flag certification honors coastal destinations that maintain high standards in carrying out their tourism practices. The process of evaluation is based on services and safety, water quality, and environmental management and education.
Tamaulipas Tourism Secretary Fernando Olivera Rocha says, “This certification is the result of joint work, following the guidelines of state public policy and the vision of Governor Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca, promoting environmental care and sustainable development, complying with the criteria and guidelines of Blue Flag Mexico.”
He thanked and congratulated the recipients of this great feat as this achievement puts Tamaulipas to world acclaim for exemplifying the best environmental practices. He further encouraged tourists and visitors to help in maintaining the cleanliness of the beach.
